Why Moisturize?
Washing your face twice a day is very important. It leaves your face fresh and feeling wonderful AND it will help keep the acne down. But what about a moisturizer? And I know some people, because their skin type is oily, they choose not to use a moisturizer. They think that if they do have oily skin the moisturizer will make it worse. But this is far from the truth.
I gave you some great recipes for a natural face wash. I mixed some up the other day and have been using it twice a day and I have to say that, it was easy to mix up AND it leaves my face soft, clean, lightly exfoliates and my skin feels moisturized. But, it is still necessary to use a moisturizer.
The most common natural ingredient is coconut oil. This is what's in the facial cleanser also. And I know, some of you are saying, "my skin is oily to begin with, why would I use an oil?" Lotions and Moisturizers. For most people, pure coconut oil is all that is needed for moisturizing the face. It is naturally full of collagen supporting lauric acid and is easily absorbed by the skin. Even for oily and acne prone skin, coconut oil's natural anti-bacterial properties make it a great option.
So, here is a simple recipe for you to use and whips up in just a few minutes.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (I like the virgin or unrefined)
- 1 teaspoon vitamin E
- 5-7 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
Now, mix everything together, that's it. Pretty simple isn't it? And you can find any of these ingredients at any Natural food store.
If you don't want to make your own, then here are some great moisturizers that you can go buy.
